Day 3

30km / 6.5 hours

If yesterday felt monotonous and repetitive, this was even more. The sand and waves just keep coming, there is no escape. Each step blends into the last, it never ends. My only thoughts are of escaping the beach and living as far from sand as possible.

Just the beach, pretty much my life for the past two days

The first 10km felt pleasant actually, the next 10 were tiring but manageable and the last 10 were absolutely gruelling and a total slog. My feet really were calling out in pain on all sides by this point so there was no point to put the weight on that felt comfortable. My legs ached with the agony of moving me along further than they would. My sides struggled with the configuration of the heavy pack I carried.

A nice sunset

That being said, I find this day easier than yesterday which I attribute to a better mindset that allowed me to not get too far ahead: just focus on one step at a time.
