Day 2

27.5km / 7 hours

This was a much more typical day, in that it was just walking. Unfortunately that also made it more difficult. Walking 27km with a heavy pack on was an arduous task , moreso than I anticipated. My feet are sore, legs weary but most concerning is that my left ankle is a bit sore.

The start of the track where you can see the beach from a distance

It started off pleasantly enough with a standard bout of walking and what was to be the only section of non-beach walking for the day. After that it was just sand all the way.

A small island from the beach

It’s hard to find anything novel to say about that. It was just trudging through sand with the only milestones being the dunes and ocean passing by. All there was of interest was to count the utes going by, 2 towards me and 4 going the same way. There was also a guy on a motorbike.

A seal on the beach. It didn’t seem very happy.

Currently it’s exceedingly windy, even more so than yesterday and I’m just going for a better day tomorrow.
