Rotorua photo dump

It’s 1:30am and I currently can’t sleep since it’s pouring with rain on my tent which is admirably keeping the water out but producing plenty of noise so here’s some interesting photos with context from my journey so far, this section being Rotorua.

Looking at the top of fluffy clouds through a plane window

I haven’t been on a plane in ages so was cool to see clouds again from this perspective, kinda incredible that we can do that.

A view of some hills with a lake in the background

Lake Rotorua is in the background with some nice hills.

Some plants framing a lake with some lens flare

Here I like how the lens flare works with the image to show the lake and plants around.

An animal that looks like a mini kangaroo looking at me

A wallaby, they’re an introduced species and a pest here but I saw a few of them (or it could have been the same one over and over)

A beach with warning signs and steam emanating from the water

The geothermal hot water beach causing steam to rise out, the water was only hot right at the end of the beach but was still a cool place to be.

Some calm hot pools with rocks around and stairs into

Some hot pools that I dipped my feet into, was a very pleasant temperature although these places do tend to attract biting insects.
